In January 2023, Variety reported that director Samuel Theis was fired from the set after a crew member accused him of rape. According to French newspaper Libération, the alleged sexual assault occurred on July 1, 2023, after a party in an apartment with the cast and crew, in the middle of filming. The employee spent the night drunk in the apartment where the party was taking place and accused Theis of raping her in the early hours of the morning. Meanwhile, the filmmaker argued that it was a compromise, according to Mukti. For the rest of the production, Theis remained on location but shot the film remotely.
